Production of New Isotopes by Heavy Ion Fragmentation
In recent years, work at Dubna,1 CERN,2 Berkeley, Los Alamos3 and elsewhere has increased our knowledge of light nuclei far from stability. In these experiments, heavy ion beams have steadily increased in importance with the use first of transfer reactions and more recently deep-inelastic reactions for isotope production. In this talk, we shall discuss the application of yet another class of reaction, namely heavy ion fragmentation, to the production of very neutron-rich light nuclei.
