Abstract

As the number of nuclear power plants in the Federal Republic of Germany increases, the discussion of whether and how these nuclear power plants can be decommissioned later will also become more intense. It is indisputable that as a result of the activity inventory present during the decommissioning of nuclear power plants -- in contrast to the decommissioning of conventional power plants -- special onditions prevail, so detailed considerations are equired of how these decommissioning operations can be carried out without endangering the population and the decommissioning personnel.
