Myeloperoxidase, the peroxidase of neutrophilic leukocytes, is genetically distinct from the eosinophil peroxidase as suggested by the absence of myeloperoxidase activity from neutrophils, but not eosinophils of subjects with inherited myeloperoxidase deficiency (6,8,13).
