Abstract

Reactor Physics is an applied science. Its value rests in its ability to make predictions and to solve problems that are of practical interest. Its purpose is to deal with the neutron and gamma problems that together with heat transfer, materials, thermohydraulics and other engineering problems (and in strict interconnection with them) have to be solved in order to design and to operate, safely and economically, nuclear reactors and especially those of greatest practical impact, the power reactors needed for electricity production.
