Abstract
As never before in human history, energy demand and supply has become a political theme. The problems of the ‘limits to growth’, i.e. steadily increasing human activities on the one hand, and — in many aspects — limited resources on the other hand, have been spelled out very distinctly in the context of energy consumption.
