Electrically Induced Fluorescence Changes from Solutions of Dye Tagged Polyribonucleotides

Abstract

Transient changes have been recorded in the polarised components of fluorescence from aqueous solutions of poly r A, Poly r C, poly r G, poly r I and poly r U complexed with the dye acridine orange upon alignment of the polymers with pulsed electric fields. The novel data reveal the nature of the fluorescent dye ordering. For poly r A and poly r C the effects are found to depend strongly upon the polymer concentration.
