Electrochromism of Organic Dyes in Polymer Matrices
Results of electrochromic measurements on several organic dyes dissolved in polymer matrices are presented. The advantages of polymers over common liquids (higher breakdown field strengths and the existence of a glass point) are discussed. Moreover, the possibility of studying the softening of polymers around their glass transitions with an electrochromic dye as a probe is demonstrated.
