Tar Spot of Maple

Abstract

Tar spot diseases are bold-appearing leaf lesions (Fig. 32-1) which appear as stripes when mature. Tar spot of maple is caused by Rhytisma acerinum. Another species also attacks maple and still others willow, golden rod, and other plants.
