Rationale for the Conference and Organization of the Volume
Although health and nutrition services are expanding rapidly in Latin America and other low income regions around the world, surprisingly little is known about the various impacts of these services on the program recipients. Particularly, there is distressingly little information available on program benefits with which to design or redesign service delivery systems. Design decisions based on facts are increasingly important, however, both in terms of anticipating resource requirements and ultimately in terms of assuring that benefits accrue to target populations.
