Nucleon Spectra from the 16O(π,γ) Reaction

Abstract

The main features of the hard (≲ 130 MeV) gamma ray spectra of the (π,γ) reaction on light nuclei are apparently understood1 in terms of the nuclear shell model and impulse approximation. To make a step further an analysis of the distributions of outgoing nucleons and in particular the coincidence type observations ar needed. Presented here is an extension of our earlier2 n hole - n particle (n = 0, 1, 2) shell model description of 16O(π,γ)16N reaction. We have calculated the decay characteristics of the 16N excitation. The formalism of reduced widths of the R-matrix theory was employed.
