Photoproduction of Charged Pions from C12 Using a Tagged Photon Beam

Abstract

The first experiment using the tagged photon beam facility at the Bonn 500 MeV synchrotron is described. An internal tagging system determines the photon energy with an accuracy of 9 MeV in the photon energy range from 200 to 390 MeV. Charged photoreaction products are analyzed by a large solid angle magnetic spectrometer. Data are presented for the energy distributions of charged pions produced by the tagged photons from a C12 target. The data are compared with the results of an intranuclear cascade Monte Carlo calculation.
