The Potential of Fine Particle Technology Applied to Ceramic Raw Materials

  • Chapter
Processing of Crystalline Ceramics

Part of the book series: Materials Science Research ((MSR,volume 11))

Abstract

Metalliferous ores and a number of industrial mineral sources consist of mixtures of crystals. Purification involves the preliminary separation by grinding in some form to the point at which the individuals are pure and separate grains. This is followed commonly by separation using methods which rely on different bulk or surface properties exhibited by the constituent minerals.
