Abstract
The aim of the Symposium on Pathophysiology of Cerebral Energy Metabolism was to present current studies on problems of cerebral ischemia, convulsions, and the mechanisms of sleep, and to allow some synthesis to be reached concerning the basic mechanisms involved. Such studies already have clinical significance, or will acquire such significance in the near future. The powerful tools and insights of the modern biochemistry of the brain furnish both the ways and the means for important developments in this area of research.
