Quantitative Analysis of Reflection Spectra and Tissue Metabolites of the Blood-Free Perfused Guinea Pig Brain

  • Chapter
Oxygen Transport to Tissue VII

Part of the book series: Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology ((AEMB,volume 191))

Abstract

Absorption spectra of the blood-free perfused guinea-pig brain were determined by cytochrome aa3, b, and c at three different temperatures (18° C., 24° C., 37° C) with the rapid spectrometer according to Lübbers and Niesel (1957). ECoG recordings were used to define the brain function throughout the experiments. Tissue metabolism was investigated by measuring the labile metabolites ATP, ADP, AMP and pi as well as Lactate and Pyruvate in the guinea-pig brain.
