The Effect of Weight Loss on Plasma and Urinary Uric Acid and Lipid Levels
There is considerable evidence from epidemiological and clinical studies of a relation between body weight and the plasma level of uric acid. An association exists between serum uric acid and triglyceride levels, while a relationship between serum uric acid and cholesterol has been claimed by some but disputed by others (Darlington and Scott, 1972). The serum uric acid appears to fall with weight loss (Nicholls and Scott, 1972; Emmerson, 1973).
