Possible Presence of Psychosine in Brain

Jungalwala et al. (1975) described a very sensitive method for the separation and quantitation of phospholipids containing primary amino groups such as phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), phosphatidylserine (PS) and lysophosphatidylethanolamine by high performance liquid chromatography. Compounds which contain primary amino groups can be converted into their U.V. absorbing N-biphenylcarbonyl derivatives. Based on this property, we developed a high performance liquid Chromatographic method for the analysis of brain psychosine, with the use of U.V. detection at 280 nm.
