Abstract

Fourteen adult male Rhesus monkeys were followed for 18 months during which they all consumed daily measured portions of a simulated average American diet whose ingredients were based on average food consumption figures for the USA. Seven of these animals, each paired with a comparable control, were also fed 20 mg/kg of Tolbutamide per day. No significant differences in weight gain, glucose tolerance, electrocardiograms or serum lipids were noted on numerous determinations during this period of study.
