The Adenohypophysial Response to Stress and its Hypothalamic Control

  • Chapter
Neurohumoral and Metabolic Aspects of Injury

Part of the book series: Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology ((AEMB,volume 33))

Abstract

In this communication we will review the participation of the anterior pituitary gland in the stress response and concentrate in particular on research in this area from our own laboratory. The well-known participation of the neurohypophysis and its hormone, vasopressin, in the stress response will not be considered.
