Structural and Immunologic Characteristics of Subviral Components of Sindbis, Eastern Equine and Western Equine Encephalitis Viruses
During recent years great progress has been made in the elucidation of the structure, composition and molecular properties of the arbovirion. It has been demonstrated that certain members of group A arboviruses-Sindbis and Semliki Forest — can be adequately purified and their subviral components separated and isolated in pure form. These viruses are composed of two major subviral constituents: a ribonucieoprotein core and a lipoprotein envelope (1–3).
