Abstract

Very little light has been shed on the etiology or pathogenesis of human inborn defects. This is particularly true for central nervous system (CNS) malformations. However, infection (1–3), radiation (2), drugs (4–7), nutritional deficiency (8,9), and genetic susceptibility (9–12) have been implicated in their etiologies.
