This conference meets the qualification of “an idea whose time has come.” As we stated at the outset, there have been many conferences on drug abuse and a number of the participants in this meeting have also been speakers at others, but the mix of many disciplines and the exchange of ideas by experts looking at the general problem from different vantage points has created a stimulating and instructive analysis. Although it is perhaps presumptuous of me to attempt to summarize this round table conference, I should like to indicate some of the impressions which I, as a non-expert will take away. Careful study of the text will provide more instruction.
