Kallikrein Granules in the Submaxillary Gland and Pancreas

Abstract

The view that the glandular kallikreins mediate vasodilatation in actively secreting exocrine glands (Hilton & Lewis, 1955) has been contested in recent years (Bhoola, Morley, Schachter & Smaje, 1965; Garrett, 1966a, b; Skinner & Webster, 1968; Beilenson, Schachter & Smaje, 1968). Because of the controversy a different approach was applied to this problem in the hope that the new knowledge may prove important in establishing the physiological function of the glandular kallikreins.
