Abstract

In our previous investigations. /1/, a carbohydrate containing alfa-2 microglobulin isolated from bovine plasma with molecular weight of a few hundred thousand, has been found to induce smooth muscle contraction when tested on isolated guinea-pig ileum and on rat uterus. This protein fraction exhibited also a potentiating effect on both guinea-pig ileum and on rat uterus in case either histamine or bradykinin was used as standard. In addition to these stimulant effects, it relaxes the rat duodenum.
