Ferreira and Vane1 have shown that less than 30% of brady-kinin infused into the right atrium of the cat emerges in the ascending aorta. Considering the brief circulation time from right atrium to ascending aorta (2–10 sec.2) and the relatively long half-life of bradykinin in blood (17 sec), they concluded that enzymes of blood could not account for the apparent rate of loss of bradykinin in the pulmonary circulation.
