Systemic Arterial Pressure Variations Induced by the Stimulation of Bradykinin-Sensitive Vascular Receptors

Abstract

In previous research carried out on dogs and rabbits we observed that bradykinin injected into the muscolar arteries not only brings about a diminution of vascular resistance in the area into which it has been introduced but also gives rise to very noticeable general cardio-circulatory and respiratory effects; in non-anesthetized animals these principally take the form of an elevation of the systemic arterial pressure, vasoconstriction in the other muscolar and cutaneous areas, and intense hyperpnea and tachypnea (Tallarida et al.). In the course of experiments carried out on rabbits anesthetized with ethyl-urethane, on the other hand, we noted that after the injection of the peptide into the femoral artery there was a rapid fall in the systemic arterial pressure (Cassone et al.).
