The important continuing and new applications of ceramics and ceramic materials to the control of pollution in the air, water, and land media are generally considered to be mundane in comparison with other more sophisticated applications. Nevertheless, ceramics enjoy major and growing uses
  • in generation of electric power, including nuclear fuel

  • in biological wastewater treatment

  • in control of odor, hydrocarbon, and particulate emissions from stationary sources to the atmosphere

  • in control of emissions to the atmosphere from mobile sources.
