Part of the Chemotherapy book series (CT, volume 5)

Summary

The antibiotic primycin in 100 μM concentration almost completely inhibits the temolate function of 100 μM poly/dA-dT/, poly/dG-dC/, poly/dA/, natural phage DNA or calf thymus DNA in enzyme mixture containing E. coli RNA polymerase in excess. The inhibition occures mainly during elongation. The primycin has a similar inhibitory effect in the case of E.coli DNA polymerase I. investigated with different templates.
