Summary

Amphomycin and tsushimycin, antibiotics consisting of a fatty acid and a straight peptide-chain, were found to be specific inhibitors of synthesis of bacterial cell wall peptidoglycan. The antibiotics inhibit peptidoglycan synthesis on a step from UDP-MurNAc-peptide to peptidoglycan.
