The concept of reversible rectification of binary gas mixtures is well known and has been applied often to define the thermodynamic limits of binary separations. An extension of this concept to multicomponent mixtures is quite possible, and a preliminary paper on the reversible separation of multicomponent mixtures was given at this conference last year.1 It is the purpose of the present paper to clarify and extend some of the ideas presented at that time.
