The modern liquid oxygen truck is the result of over 30 years of development, experimentation, and operation. This company alone has built more than 450 trucks in more than 15 distinctly different styles with capacity ranging from 60, 000 cu. ft. to 450, 000 cu. ft. The earlier trucks did not wear out; they have been replaced by new trucks which incorporate improvements in design and materials which make the old trucks obsolete. There has been steady improvement of insulation and ratio of payload to gross load. Some of the features of the modern truck will be discussed in detail, particularly the liquid container, its suspension, the insulation casing, the piping and safety devices.
