Abstract

The use of hydrogen as a fuel for long range rocket vehicles, such as satellites or space ships, has long been of interest because of its high performance in combination with oxidizers such as oxygen and fluorine. In the past a considerable amount of work has been done with liquid hydrogen as a rocket fuel, however, the technology required in various phases of the production, handling, etc., of liquid hydrogen was limited. This has caused considerable delay in the ultimate application of this fuel. Recent advancements in various components required in hydrogen systems now make the use of hydrogen as a rocket fuel more feasible.
