Abstract

A mobile liquid hydrogen plant has been developed for the U. S. Air Force, with a delivery capacity of 100 liters per hour of 45 percent liquid parahydrogen. The plant is mounted on three semi-trailers. Two trailers carry 75 hp horizontal-type Norwalk compressors of 120 cfm capacity each, with closed cycle water cooling, large capacity radiators, enclosed electrical control center, gasholders and helium purge system. The third trailer houses the complete gas purification and liquefying cycle. The flow diagram is shown on Figure 1.
