Part of the Advances in Cryogenic Engineering book series (ACRE, volume 1)

The title, “Theory Versus Practice in Low Temperature Engineering” indicates that theory and practice are incompatible. It is not incompatability that we are talking about, but the difference between laboratory and large scale industrial practice in low temperature engineering. We will consider low temperature refrigeration schemes, heat exchangers, rectifying columns and condensers, and insulation of liquid oxygen storage transport vessels.
