Abstract

The following summary of the participants’ comments regarding the experimental and clinical studies of infant malnourishment, while reflecting the major points touched upon, does not provide the flavor of a lengthy, intense and, at times, heated discussion of research issues. While the participants could not reach agreement upon some points, the editor’s impressions were that most left the discussion with some new information and an expressed need to re-examine their own research programs and theoretical positions.
