Abstract
The purpose of this review is to present a complete kinetic analysis of the anodic dissolution and cathodic deposition of metals (with particular reference to amalgams) for cases where multivalent ions are involved and the charge transfer is a stepwise process and low-valence intermediates are formed; the criteria for the stepwise mechanism that may be developed from such an analysis will also be presented. A description of stepwise electrochemical reactions of various classes has been given by Simonova and Rotinyan.1
