Abstract

The Schroedinger equation for a system containing N electrons and a nucleus of charge Z is
$$\left\{ {H(Z,N)\; - \;E} \right\}\Psi \; = \;0$$

where (using Rydberg units),
$$ H(Z,N)\; = \; - \;\sum\limits_{i = 1}^N {\;\left( {{\nabla _i}^2 + \frac{{2Z}}{{{r_i}}}} \right)} \; + \;\sum\limits_{j = i + 1}^N {\sum\limits_{i = 1}^{N - 1} {\frac{2}{{{r_{ij}}}}} } $$
