# Theory of Magnetic Monopoles

## Abstract

The Maxwell equations for empty space are symmetric between the electric and magnetic fields E and H. One can replace E by H and H by -E and the equations are unchanged. One can add further terms to the field equations to represent the effects of electric charges and currents. If one then brings in the Lorentz equation for the motion of a charged particle
one has the complete scheme of equations for the ordinary classical electrodynamics.
