Lipid Metabolism and Ultrastructure During Spore Germination

  • John D. Weete
Part of the Monographs in Lipid Research book series (MLR)

Abstract

The process of spore germination has attracted the attention of research scientists for many years. Spore germination in fungi has been reviewed by DeBary,(1) Duggar,(2) Ferguson,(3) Dodge,(4) Doran,(5) Wolf and Wolf,(6) Hawker,(7) Lilly and Barnett,(8) and Madelin.(9) Germination of spores of the following groups of fungi has also been reviewed: slime molds by Smart,(10) Phycomycetes by Emerson,(11) yeasts by Tites,(12) smuts by Davis(13) and Fischer,(14) rusts by Arthur,(15) Basidiomycetes by Fries(16) and Kneebone,(17) and Aspergillus niger by Yanagita.(18) The information on lipid metabolism in these reviews is limited.
