Electroluminescent Semiconductor Diode Displays
As long ago as 1907 Round, while studying silicon carbide detectors, observed semiconductor electroluminescence. However, it was not until the 1960’s that useful devices became available. The laboratory devices of the 1960’s are a major semiconductor product of the 1970’s and are being used in an increasingly wide range of displays.
