Isolation of a Hansenula Wingei Mutant with an Altered Sexual Agglutinin
Haploid cells of opposite mating type of the yeast Hansenula wingei possess complementary cell-surface factors that mediate a specific sexual agglutination reaction (4), the function of which appears to be that of enhancing the efficiency of mating. Regulation of the synthesis of these two factors is tightly linked to the mating type locus.
