Mixed-State Ultrasonic Attenuation in Clean Niobium

Abstract

Recently there has been much theoretical1–4 and experimental5–7 interest in the ultrasonic attenuation coefficient in the mixed state of clean type-II superconductors. In this paper we present measurements of the attenuation near the upper critical field with the purpose of testing theoretical predictions regarding frequency dependence and propagation geometries.
