Light-Shifts Precision Measurements of the 0–0 Transition in a 133Cs Gas Cell
Light-shiftsin ground states have been previously studied both theoreticallyl(l), and experimentally with the use of spectral lamps(2). The recent developement of a CW, narrow band, tunable GaAs laser(3) has enabled us to obtain a check of the theory in the case of coherent monochromatic radiation, and to make accurate measurements of the light-shift of the 0–0 transition in a cesium gas cell as a function of the radiation frequency and intensity.
