Masses of TZ = + 5/2 Nuclei in the s-d Shell from β-Decay Measurements
One of the research programs planned for the Tandem Van de Graaff facility at Brookhaven National Laboratory was the study of radioactivities that could be produced either by higher energy light projectiles or, more particularly, by the heavy-ion beams available from this type of accelerator. Many short-lived radioactivities had been investigated previously using the 3.5-MeV Van de Graaff at Brookhaven including a number of nuclides formed by triton-induced reactions. One of these was 200 produced in the 180(t,p)200 reaction. The search for weak β-ray branches in 200 decay was hindered by background radiations from 20F which was made directly in the competing 180(t,n)20F reaction.
