Immunohistochemical Localization of Hypothalamic Hormones (Especially LRF) at the Light Microscopy Level

Abstract

Hypothalamic hormones that can now be revealed by im-munohistochemical methods may be divided into two groups:
  • post kypophyseal or neurohypophysal hormones (principally adiuretin-vasopressin, ADH-VP and oxytocin)

  • prehypophysiotropic hormones (principally LRF, the “Luteinizing Hormone Releasing Factor”, McCann et al 1960, or LH-RH, the “Luteinizing Hormone Releasing Hormone”, and cyclic somatostatin or SRIF, the “Somathormone Release Inhibiting Factor”, Krulich et al 1967).
