In order initiate studies on the molecular properties of the gonadotropin receptor sites for luteinizing hormone, subcellular fractions of testis and ovarian homogenates with specific binding affinity for LH and hCG have been treated with non-ionic detergents such as ‘Triton X-100’ and ‘Lubrol’ to obtain “solubilized” receptor preparations which are suitable for binding studies and physico-chemical characterization (1–3).
