Studies on the Correlation between Androgen Binding and Activation of Rat Epididymal Tubules in Culture
We have recently reported that rat epididymal tissues maintained in organ culture responded to androgens added to the culture media by stimulating the incorporation of radioactive amino acids into protein (1). Similarly, the incorporation of radioactive uridine into RNA was also increased. However, in contrast to the rapid effects induced by androgens when injected into animals, the response of cultured tissues to added hormone occurred after a rather prolonged time lag.
