Abstract
A number of reports concerning the voluntary control of blood pressure have appeared in recent years and many advances in the understanding of this phenomenon have been made (Shapiro, Schwartz, & Tursky, 1972; Schwartz, 1972; Brener, 1974). But a detailed examination of some aspects of this control is hampered by difficulties in monitoring blood pressure continuously and in producing a flexible feedback system. This paper describes experience with pulse wave velocity as a measure of blood pressure change and as a tool for investigating cardiovascular control.
