Abstract

In principle, it is generally agreed that the creation of ecosystem reserves offers the best means of conserving threatened floral regions, but unfortunately in practice this does not at present reduce the need for the preservation and rescue of a great number of plant species with natural world populations that have declined to an inadequate survival level and for which properly protected reserves will come too late.
