Medroxyprogesterone Acetate as an Antiandrogen for the Rehabilitation of Sex Offenders

  • Paul A. Walker
Part of the Perspectives in Sexuality book series (Persp. Sex.)

Most sex offenders are male and are properly diagnosed as pa-raphiliacs. The paraphiliac is totally reliant on a particular behavior or erotic image for sexual expression. This inappropriate behavior or image is an imperative, not an option, for arousal. Although the offender may engage in what appears to be conventional socially-approved sexual activity with a consenting partner concurrent with the paraphiliac behavior, in most cases the approved behavior depends on paraphiliac imagery for adequate arousal and for erection and orgasm.
