Abstract
The subject of organic solid-state reactions has been reviewed and Schmidt1 stressed the high degree of topochemical control in photochemical processes the products of which are determined to an important extent by the structure of the crystal. We now explore the range and limitations of the topochemical concept in these two-phase, two-component reactions.
